Scottish Widows, the life, pensions and investment group, has an enormous printing requirement, generating more than 100 million pages of printed copy every year. The business began to consider alternatives and approached Xerox about what it could offer. Scottish Widows was not persuaded by the results.
At this point, JMCL was appointed, with both organisations backing, to produce independent analysis of what Xerox would generate for Scottish Widows.
We built a specific model to do the analysis, bearing in mind a long list of variables.
The model allowed us to input all kinds of different scenarios and carry out detailed sensitivity analysis. We demonstrated that the immediate benefits were sufficient to make a change worthwhile.
“JMCL came in to really dig into the figures and find out how we worked. They demonstrated Xerox could guarantee Scottish Widows savings of 14% a year even after costs for staff transfers and plant closure,” says Ian Scott, senior programme manager at Scottish Widows.
On the basis of our work Scottish Widows agreed to outsource all its print work to Xerox under a deal guaranteeing them Scottish Widows terms and conditions for five years.”
